Fidelity Real Estate Funds

There are three Fidelity Real Estate Funds for investors to choose from. The one that has been around the longest is the Fidelity Real Estate Investment Portfolio (FRESX). The other two are the Fidelity Real Estate Income Fund (FRIFX) and the Fidelity International Real Estate Fund (FIREX). If you are considering investing in one or more of these funds, remember these are long term investments. If you want to make a short term investment, then look at other mutual funds for your portfolio.

Because these are long term investments each of them are open for an IRA investment. The minimum to invest in all of these funds is $2,500.

The largest of these funds is also the oldest, the FRESX. It has total assets of $2.51 billion with a 1 year return as of 1/31/10 of 52.22%. The expense ratio of this fund is 0.92% with volatility measures of Beta at 1.68, R squared of 0.65 and the standard deviation of 41.48 over the past three years. The Morningstar rating of this fund is 3 stars

The next largest is the FRIFX. It has total assets of $738 million with a 1 year return as of 1/31/10 of 45.95%. The expense ratio of this fund is 1.00% with volatility measures of Beta at 0.64, R squared of 0.65 and the standard deviation of 15.95 over the past three years. The Morningstar rating of this fund is 5 stars.

The smallest is the FRIEX. It has total assets of $328 million with a 1 year return as of 1/31/10 of 45.60%. The expense ratio of this fund is 1.19% with volatility measures of Beta at 1.09, R squared of 0.86 and the standard deviation of 28.25 over the past three years. The Morningstar rating of this fund is 3 stars.

If you are looking for a long term wise investment then researching the three Fidelity Real Estate Funds is advisable.
