On February 9, 2010, the Fidelity China Special Situations Fund was launched. The fund manager is Anthony Bolton and is a London-listed investment trust. As of February 24, 2010, over 12,000 investors have already signed up and invested in this fund. Most of them know of the spectacular track record of Anthony and are hoping he continues in his successful picks of high return stocks. The aim is to raise over $1 billion for this fund and they are well on their way to achieving this goal. The annual management fees of this fund is 1.5%, which is rather high, but with Anthony’s past performance record, investors are flocking to Fidelity to sign up and become a part of this new venture.
To help prove his confidence in this new venture, Anthony has placed 2 million British Sterling Pounds of his own money in this fund. For the individual investor, the minimum is 2500 BSP until the goal of $1 billon is reached. Then, the plan is to scale back the minimum investment which has yet to be determined.
The prospectus for this new fund will be published and released to the public on February 26, 2010. The target offer period for investors to become a part of this closed end fund is from February 26, 2010 till April 5, 2010. The date that stocks and other investments will start being incurred is April 19, 2010.
The main investment sector this fund is looking to invest in is the securities of companies in mainland China and Hong Kong. This is to be Chinese domestic companies whose GNP is expected to exceed the US’ in 2027 as predicted by Goldman Sachs Group, Inc.
This is one of the few mutual funds investors can get at a bargain price at the moment. With the Chinese foreign exchange reserve being the largest in the world at $2.3 trillion, the Fidelity China Special Situations Fund is an investment that should be looked into before it stops accepting investors.
